Credit & Rental Qualification
Can I Rent a Home in St. Louis With Lower Credit?
If your credit isn’t perfect, one of the first questions you may have before applying for a rental home is whether you can qualify.
Triple Win does perform credit screening. The minimum credit score to apply is 500, but credit score is part of a larger screening process.
Here’s what you should know before applying.
What Credit Score Does Triple Win Require?
Triple Win requires a minimum credit score of 500.
Triple Win may also consider your payment history on credit accounts.
That distinction matters: rental qualification isn’t accurately described simply as “good credit” or “bad credit.” Your application is evaluated according to Triple Win’s screening requirements.
Does Triple Win Offer No-Credit-Check Rentals?
No.
Triple Win performs credit screening, so its properties should not be described as “no credit check rentals.”
If you encounter a Triple Win property through another website, use Triple Win’s official requirements when deciding whether to apply.
What Else Is Considered?
Screening can include:
- Credit score
- Payment history
- Income
- Employment verification
- Rental or mortgage payment history
- Eviction history
- Bankruptcy history
- Criminal background
See St. Louis Rental Requirements for the complete qualification overview.
Can a Co-Signer Help?
Triple Win may consider co-signers case by case depending upon the screening results and the particular requirements the applicant did not meet.
A co-signer must meet all application requirements.
Using a co-signer is therefore not an automatic approval mechanism.
What About an Eviction?
Triple Win states that an eviction judgment within the previous five years results in automatic denial, regardless of the amount owed.
What About Bankruptcy?
A bankruptcy filing within the previous five years results in automatic denial under Triple Win’s stated requirements.
Income Still Matters
Even when you meet the credit requirement, you must satisfy the other rental requirements.
Triple Win requires net household income of at least 2.5 times the monthly rent.
That means choosing a home appropriate to your qualifying income is an important part of applying successfully.
Before You Apply
Don’t guess.
First:
- Check your credit.
- Review Triple Win’s Rental Requirements.
- Determine whether your household meets the income requirement.
- Gather your income documentation.
- Review your rental history.
- Make sure your application information will be complete and accurate.
